Whenthe water is forced through the coffee grounds, the Moka Pot only achieves 1 to 3 bars of pressure, whereas an espresso machine achieves 9 bars of pressure. However, because the flavor is so similar, you can use Moka Pot coffee as a substitute for espresso in espresso drinks such as lattes, iced lattes, and others.
Grind1 ½ cups of dark roast coffee. Grind the coffee to a medium coarse grind. Add 6 cups filtered water and mix. Add filtered water to the coffee grounds in a large jar or pitcher, and give it a little stir. Refrigerate and wait 24 hours! If I put 60 ml of water and 7 grams of coffee (half the capacity) in my 120 ml moka pot, I only get about 30 grams of coffee in my cup. The rest is lost along the way.
